We all know that a person's car choice will often reflect on their personality. How about we try to do it the other way? I'll give you a description of a person and you'll try to come up with a perfect car for them.

You may post cars that are reasonably within reach for the described person, or ones that aren't but seem like they would completely suit them (although I'd prefer you stick to the former choice). Also, try to stick to mass produced cars. I know that hot rods are cool, but I'd rather you keep it within reason.

So, here we go:

Person 1:

The person in question is a male metalhead in his early 20's. He's 6'1" with arse-long dark brown hair. He's slightly less social than average (although not a complete social outcast), attends university and spends his free time playing his electric guitar or drinking beer/whiskey with friends. He lives by himself but his parents still help him out financially. He's capable of carrying out simple repairs/maintenance jobs by himself and driving a manual car; his knowledge about cars is above average. He needs a daily driver, but is not too bothered about practicality. He appreciates high and effortless performance, comfort and the "cool factor".

Person 2:

This person is an attractive female in her early 20's. 5'3" tall with dark brown hair. She's generally shy in social situations. A university student (that's about to graduate), she spends her free time with her friends or on Facebook. She lives with 2 roommates in a city a short drive from her hometown. She has a boyfriend. She's not mechanically inclined, but can drive manual cars and has vague interest in motoring. She's generally quite ditzy behind the wheel and prone to panicking in dangerous situations. She likes big cars and high seating positions. She doesn't need the car to commute to university, but would use it to go back home on weekends and run errands within the city.

So, Oppo. Can you think of perfect cars for these perople?

Person 1 is similar in broad strokes to a co-worker of mine who has and loves an early 90's Ford Ranger, FWIW.

Person 2: Without a *preference* for manual, maybe Buick Century. Possibly a Mazda 5 as well. I've known some of the type that tried Beetles and didn't like them.

1. 1970 Pontiac Trans Am. Brash, muscular, solid, classic, loud, not a Camaro.

Kinja'd!!!

2. Mid-2000s Volvo S60. Great seats, lots of safety stuff, conservative handling characteristics, makes an owner look smart and dignified without being a badge snob.

I think the CRV would be a better choice than an S60 mostly thanks to the sitting position and all wheel drive.

And an F-body does sound like a pretty good match. Is it trustworthy enough to DD though?

Would the Trans Am be reliable enough to daily drive though?

1.

Kinja'd!!!

Ram Van.

Ass-long brown hair? Still in school? Clearly he needs something that can haul his electric guitar and amp, and an F-Body won't do. He's doesn't have a straight-up mullet, and isn't all-american enough (read: football star) to have a Camaro or Firebird. This man gets the Ram Van, because 5.9l V8, and he knows that the Firebird isn't going to improve his chances with the ladies, so he needs to 'practice his art' on the Guitar if he hopes to procreate.

Person 2: Subaru forester. Unquantified got it.

If previous owners kept it reasonably well, yes. It's all classic engineering applied to relatively simple parts from near the end of an era when GM really did things right. Those cars were designed to be daily drivers, and aside from normal wear items there is nothing in there that is innately worrisome even in the OBDII era.

Biggest concern is that it's now a fortysomething-year-old ride with lots of potential for neglectful owners in the past, but the parts and talent are out there to rectify anything and everything, and at fair prices. Get one - or any of its contemporaries - in good condition and you're in great shape.

I love the "musician bound to fail" vibe the RAM Van gives off in this situation.

That's a bit of a shame, the first one is definitely cooler.

Muscle vans seem to evoke that "wanted to be a rock star but got bullied by the jocks" vibe.

It also needs a badass Rush paint job.

2. A diesel CR-V
